As the official start of winter rapidly approaches (tomorrow) i look out at the almost cloudless blue sky and know exactly why i love living in the minervois. While northern Europeans start descending into the depths of winter we are still alternating between tee-shirts and light jerseys depending on the day and fingers crossed we will be enjoying champagne on the terrace in the sun christmas day with family and friends.

It is always a surprise that so many of my clients only use their holiday homes during the long hot summers and not the cooler but more often than not faultlessly blue skied months that comprise our dry mediterranean winter. The winter here is a time for long strolls under a gentler sun through medieval village and vineyards active with workers as the vines are pruned and readied for next season. Cafés and restaurants take on a decidedly authentic flavour as the locals settle back into their favorite spot free of tourists (almost!!) and time definitely slows back down to a more comfortable pace!

Evenings infront of a roaring fire with your favorite book and a great minervois red ( And they are the best!! ) are in order and the following day...... more of the same! Merry Christmas to my many past and future clients .... Isn't winter just grand!!
